(Publication Assistée par Ordinateur). Ils prennent le texte écrit « au kilomètre », puis le mettent en page automatiquement. Une merveilleuse application de la micro-informatique.

Qu'est-ce que la PAO. ? Sous ces initiales se cache la Publication Assistée par Ordinateur. Vous allez me dire que ça vous la baille belle et que ça ne vous dit pas grand chose sur ce que ça recouvre. Mais ne vous plaignez pas, dans les milieux branchés on emploie le terme anglo-saxon de « Desktop Publishing », ce qui ne fait qu'embrouiller un peu plus l'affaire. Une troisième appellation, plus compréhensible, fait fureur chez certains, c'est celle de-micro édition. Déjà, on comprend mieux. Mais, que voulez-vous, c'est comme ça, dans le monde informatique, on aime le vocabulaire ésotérique et c'est le terme de P.A.O. qui a tendance à l'emporter sur les autres...
