Nouveautés du Locomotive Basic v1.1:
  • FILL colorie une surface fermée à l'aide d'une couleur donnée.
  • DRAW, DRAWR, PLOT, PLOTR, MOVE et MOVER ont un quatrième paramètre de mode d'encre déterminant l'interaction de l'encre sur l'affichage présent à l'écran. Spécifiquement il sera fait un OU exclusif, un OU inclusif, un ET ou rien suivant le cas. Associés avec MASK, qui détermine un motif binaire pour le tracé de lignes, on peut réaliser des tiretés multicolores.
  • COPYCHR$ renvoie le caractère présent sur l'écran à la position courante du curseur.
  • CURSOR active ou désactive l'apparition du curseur en mode utilisateur ou système.
  • AUTO réalise toujours la numérotation automatique des lignes mais entre en mode édition si une ligne existe déjà. Bien pratique pour les modifications en série.
  • ON BREAK CONT rend un programme ininterruptible par la touche Escape.
  • GRAPHICS PEN et PAPER fonctionnent comme PEN et PAPER pour le texte mais pour le tracé de lignes en graphique.
  • DERR renvoie le numéro d'erreur disque manipulable par programmme pour améliorer le confort et la sécurité dans la gestion de fichiers.
  • FRAME synchronise l'écriture graphique avec les trames vidéo pour des mouvements plus lisses des caractères et des graphiques lors des animations.

L'Amstrad CPC est une machine 8 bits à base d'un Z80 à 4MHz. Le premier de la gamme fut le CPC 464 en 1984, équipé d'un lecteur de cassettes intégré il se plaçait en concurrent  du Commodore C64 beaucoup plus compliqué à utiliser et plus cher. Ce fut un réel succès et sorti cette même années le CPC 664 équipé d'un lecteur de disquettes trois pouces intégré. Sa vie fut de courte durée puisqu'en 1985 il fut remplacé par le CPC 6128 qui était plus compact, plus soigné et surtout qui avait 128Ko de RAM au lieu de 64Ko.
