Hi guys,

would like to know what valid point-and-click graphic adventure have been released on the CPC. I’m particularly interested in adventures similar to that of LucasArt and Sierra… thx

Hi,

Not really the same atmosphere as the Lucasart games, but three come quickly in mind:

B.A.T / Bureau des Affaires Temporelles :
https://cpcrulez.fr/GamesTest/b_a_t.htm

Le Manoir de Moretvielle (only in french ?) :
https://cpcrulez.fr/GamesTest/le_manoir_ ... vielle.htm

& last but no least, Orion Prime :

Thanks dirtybb, I know that titles and are all great. Unfortunately I don’t know about an English version of Le Manoir de Moretvielle… anyway other similar titles? And no LucasArt or Sierra games has been ever ported to CPC?

Proper SCUMM-styled points and clicks were never properly released on CPC because they were typical American games (hence not ported on CPC) or later French Games, hence released on 16bit systems.

French devs would do games like Gobliiins or Bargon Attack, even Operation Stealth... but as it was in early 90s, and graphic heavy... no proper CPC ports because those games would have needed like 3-4 disks and a huge crapload or multiloading in a 6128 config... also close to no one would have proper mouse on the CPC.

French "points and clicks" were not quite SCUMM style : no hero sprite moving in the background/scenery...
more the adventure games "Zombi-Masque-etc" styled with static screens and text based/word recognition engine. (QIN and so on...)

Sadly same with proper RPGs... close to not enough of those on CPC.

it's even a miracle Bard's Tale has a C64/AppleII port with close to no account for CPC graphic capabilities.

Thats one of the challenges modern CPC-scene has yet to vainquish :

>> create proper RPG in the GoldenBox/Might&Magic/dungeonMaster/eyesofthebeholder/Ultima style
>> create point-and-clicks in the SCUMM/KingQuest/Larry/etc style.

This is quite shamefull as a 6128 configuration is quite capable on those two styles that were abundently ported on c64 or Apple2 or even old CGA XT and lesser IBM configs.
(even NES)

in a certain sense, l'Aigle d'Or and l'Aigle d'Or 2 are somewhat point and clickish, just they wouldn't use mouse to "point-and-click.
:D

I don't think the Britons or Spanish were developping SCUMM like points and clicks, this kind of game is not even quite often ported on ZX spectrum as well (which leads to CPC and PCW not having those as well.

Abadia del Crimen may be somewhat in this flavour and is certainly one of the Best Amstrad CPC gamer even, sadly only in Spanish.

When will someone hack English and french into this one ?

There used to be this game : the grat escape for ocean, which is an unofficial port from a classic movie and also a dire speccy port, that has some Point&Click elements in the gameplay I guess.

>> don't focus on the "point&click" aspect as no proper mouse on CPC.
more on the exploration and interactions with inventory and player's sprite moving into a background, and dialogues with non player characters.

But still would be great to restore justice and give CPC proper modern ports as it is quite as capable as some CGA-IBM-PC or C64 on the matter.

Freedom
Fugitif
(actually most Lankhor games)

Perhaps games like Iznogoud may be somewhat close to "SCUMMlike" games.
