Texas Pete and his dastardly cronies Bulk and
Skeleton are at large in Creepy Castle, and their plan
is to blow it sky-high. Your mission is to catch them
all and put them behind bars before the bomb goes
off. But beware - there are hazards lurking in the
castle which can rob you of your magic powers just
when you need them most, making it easier for the
gang to carry out their plot.
Can you guide SuperTed through the castle's
twisting maze of corridors and paths to find Texas
Pete, Bulk and Skeleton in time? Can you help to jail
all the crooks before one of them has a chance to
escape? Will the technological teddy be able to foil
their foul felony? Why not play the game and see!
Playing the game
1. Once the program is loaded, you will be asked
how you would like to move SuperTed - either with
the cursor keys (5,6,7 and 8) or with various types
2. The aim of the game is to guide SuperTed
around the castle to pick up Texas Pete and his gang
one by one and put them all in jail before the bomb
shown at the right explodes.
3. Creepy Castle is mapped out on a grid three
screens high and three screens wide. You can only
see what is going on in detail on one screen at a
time, but there are castle scanners at the top left and
right of the picture to show you which characters
are in which part of the castle at any one time. Texas
Pete is shown on the scanners by a blue square:
Skeleton by a grey square; Bulk by a mauve square;
and SuperTed by a red square when he has his
magic powers, and a yellow square when he
4. On the main screen you can see one section of
the castle at a time in detail; its halls, courtyards,
dungeons, gardens or jail. You can move SuperTed
from one area of the castle to another through the
gaps in the maze. To catch one of the gang
SuperTed must bump into him and then fly to jail
with the villain in tow. When SuperTed is moved
next to the bars at the top of the prison his captive
will be thrown into jail. A rogue's gallery across the
top of the screen shows which members of the
gang are still at large, while the one at the bottom
reminds you who is in jail.
5. If SuperTed collides with one of the yellow
obstacles sticking out from the edges of the maze,
he loses his magic powers. Without them he cannot
catch the baddies, nor take them to jail. To re-
energise SuperTed you must guide him to one of the
red bowls of bubbling blancmange that are dotted
around the castle and its grounds.
6. Is SuperTed takes too long getting all the crooks
behind bars, the ones who are already in jail will
escape and need to be captured again.

Loading & running
1. Set up your Spectrum as
described in the handbook.
2. Full rewind tape. Check
volume and tone controls are in

pull out power supply lead,
reconnect and start 3 again.
