The HS-S1 dual channel serial card is a most useful expansion for the Amstrad CPC computer range, providing instant entry (with the appropriate software) to the world of data communications. With a MODEM, the HS-S1 provides access to Prestel. bulletin boards. BT Cold and on-line data bases, serial printers and/or plotters can be controlled via the HS-S1, along with any other serial-input device. The HS-S1 is the ideal minimum cost serial interface for operation under Amstrad CP/M 2.2 or CP/M Plus, and a number of BASIC commands (available on disc) allow instant access to the RS232 features of the card without having to program the hardware directly. BASIC commands include RS232 control commands, single character transfer, multiple character transfer, file transfer, terminal emulation and a re-directed printer output. The HS-S1 interface is built to Amsoft's recommended RS232 serial interface standard, ensuring complete compatibility with the Amstrad RS232C port. Baud rates of 45, 50, 74, 110, 150, 200, 300, 600, 1200, 1800, 2400, 3600, 4800, 7200 and 9600 are supported. The HS-S1 is supplied uncased on a silk-screened PCB measuring 80 x 100mm (half Eurocard) with an industry standard 25-way D-type plug conforming to the RS232C standard for Data Terminal Equipment. A through-bus for daisy-chaining other expansion boards is built on, together with a ribbon cable connector. The hardware is based on the Z80A SIO and 8253 CTC and is compatible with the CPC464. CPC664 and CPC6128 computers; the card draws 220mA. Supplied built and tested. |
