Five heart stopping hits on one compilation. It's got to be good! Fantastic graphics linked to exceptional gameplay: now that's what I'd call a fairly sound basis for a best seller. Take that for granted and multiply it five times and I think we're talking mega-success here. What am I talking about? The latest collection from Gremlin, and what a belter it is too. Golden oldies they may be, but most of them represent the pinnacle of 8-bit gaming and, put together, this is going to hook you in a matter of minutes. If it's race action you're after, then you've got two options here, starting off with the excellent Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge. Line up against eight computer opponents, includinga friend if you like, and burn some serious rubber to make sure you finish in the qualifying position for the next race. As you progress, the tracks get harder and you'll need to remember where the pit stops are to make some hasty repairs and refuels. This really is blistering action at its best Try it for yourself. Next up, you'll be donning your armour to take on the role of courageous Arthur. Are you good enough to save the beautiful Princess Hus? That's what you will be finding out in the brilliant Ghouls 'n' Ghosts offering. Over five levels of sensational action, be sure to collect the special weapons and knock hell out of the ghosties, zombies and other nasty pieces of work that come your way. In Super Cars, you are thrown into the future on a tortuous race track set in the desert. Take your money and choose your charger before hitting the tracks in this splendid future race shock. Use your prize money to buy extra armour, missiles and whatever you like to blow your opponents off the track. Just be sure to keep winning, or you'll end up broke. Five levels of zany adventure await you as you take on the guise of Monty Mole in Impossamole. Use the shops wisely to buy more equipment and look out for the many hidden surprises as you battle to survive your first quest. If you haven't played this one yet, be sure to do so in the near future. Last up on this blistering collection, is the awesome Shadow of the Beast. Master the controls quickly if you want to survive and battle your way through the very different backdrops to the final confrontation. At all times, check your heartbeat and try to keep calm in battle to survive. In short, this is one collection that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Brilliant graphics, superb gameplay and outrageous sound effects make this one of the best buys on the market. Don't miss it, whatever you do. Jim Johnson, ACU #9202
