Happy Birthday (Computing with the Amstrad) | Coding Listings |
Help us celebrate our first birthday by lighting the candles - but watch out for those devilish diagonal draughts! BIRTHDAY is an intriguing game to celebrate Computing with the Amstrad's first year. All you have to do is light the birthday candle by guiding a flame from the top of the screen to the candle wick at the bottom. To do this you steer a course between the walls using the standard movement keys A, Z, < and >. Occasionally you'll need to use the walls as windbreaks to shelter from the gusts that threaten the flame. If they reach it, out it goes. Watch out for those gusts. They keep coming even when you don't move. Worse still, some are fairly changeable. Every now and then one blows diagonally, cutting corners to try and catch the flame. Even more devilish, sometimes they combine, disguising two or more gusts as one. Initially you are opposed by two gusts, but each time you're successful you have an extra gust to face. If you are blown out you get another go at the same level. After all it is a birthday celebration. If you want to change the game slightly so that you can select the number of gusts to start with on screen 1, just alter line 300 to: 300 CLS:INPUT "How amy gusts ";number
