Turf Form, the horse-racing forecaster by Blue Ribbon, is something slightly different from the usual software titles that pass my way. Most games and utilities cost you money, so it makes a change to see a piece of software that actually tries to help you make money. Load in the tape and a series of prompts appear on the screen and, using information that can be found in most daily newspapers, the program assists you in selecting the race meeting that you are interested in, all the major courses being listed. After inputting the number of horses in the race and their names (using the aforementioned data), Turf Form gives a speed rating for each horse and the figure that needs to be attained at that course for a horse to stand a chance. The program is easy to use and even loads on my CPC464 computer, which is more than can be said for many new titles. Given that the software is only £2.99 and should be seen as a way of having a bit of fun, not as a means of winning a fortune, then any racing fan will find Turf Form enjoyable. If you think you are going to win a fortune using this title then how come the people who wrote it aren't millionaires? Well worth trying though. ![](/img/3/turfform2.png)
