The engine is throbbing loudly as you accelerate toward Fangio. Suddenly you're into the bend and the car starts to slide. You slam on the brakes but too late. Boom! Here's a nifty little game. Type in K. Murfitt's program and improve your position in the driver's championship. The game gives you the option of choosing one of four different race tracks. You can drive in normal, icy, night or thunderstorm conditions at different levels of difficulty.
During the race the screen shows the view from behind your car looking down the track. Your car accelerates automatically to top speed, with suitable engine noises as it goes. As you approach a bend you must reduce your speed to something sensible or you score damage points, shown on the damage indicator. Too much damage is equivalent to colliding with the other cars, resulting in a crash. Completing the circuit entitles you to a bonus and then your rating is displayed on the screen. Compared to our previous offerings, this is a simple listing to get running. There is only one part to the program and that is entirely Basic. Type it in, save it and run it. Debug it and save it again. Control is entirely by joystick, left/ right go left/right, the central position accelerates, backward decelerates, and forward keeps the speed stable. ACU #8603 |
