This is a "reflection" game that's written mainly in BASIC, but with a little machine code as well. It's a little like Connect 4, except you can put counters in any way. The aim of the game is to get a row of five counters in any direction - either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You and another player take it in turns to put a counter on the 5x5 grid and then push that row of counters. It's not easy to explain, you see! You can use some special manoeuvres as well, such as putting two or three counters on at the same time, or clearing an entire row! However, these moves can only be used a few times during the whole game, so use them wisely! You can change the number of times you can use them at the start, though. I liked Push a lot, although it is for two players only - you can't play the computer. There are six colour-schemes, a nice bouncy tune, and it's written by guys who really care about the state of the CPC, as said in the in-game notices. The game does tend to go on a bit, though, and it can be a bit slow at times, as well, but don't let that deter you in any way. Grafix: 75% Sonix: 80% Gameplay: 71% Overall: 74% OTTO |
