As i saw you packed the 3"5 drive above the 3" one , this is a nice idea. How did you make internal connection ? |

I used two 3.5 Floppies, one normal Sony PC floppy and one Teac Slim floppy. It is an easy mod. Instead of having the second floppy external, you place a slim floppy and you pass the ide cable from inside I used the same power for both drives |

Okay, so the key element is to find especially thin and "miniaturised" Floppy drives...perhaps some done for portable PC... Good point as they are even designed to use less power. That's right, the 3" drive from CPC is quite...huge indeed...From what I see, my mundane standard PC 3"1/2 is only a few (1-3) millimeters wider than the CPC case diskDrive's hole/open. But vertically, almost 3/4 ou 3/5 of the 3" drive. And portable floppy disk are really smaller. Did you widened it a bit ? (sanding it...) Seems not.. The lower one ("normal" one : tabletop PC model ) seems to simply be inside...while the smaller one (the upper one) is simply... smaller... (Capt-ain Ob-vious !!! Came here to save the day...oooohh....) When I went to spain, DeepFryedBrain (iHola Jaimes!) converted an internal Disk Drive for one of my 6128+... He also used a portable PC drive...but we had some issues with compatibility actually. Perhaps his drives where all dead...we tried many pieces actually...but he told me that on 6128+ the setting/compatibility for the internal slot is a bit delicate... He solutionned this by simply giving me the Drive he put in one of his own 6128+...this guy is crazy and awesomely generous... (Hope he managed to get another 3"1/2Drive working for his 6128+.) What about you on your CPC ? What were the settings and specifications of the Drives you used ? I will probably try such a montage... Having 2x 3"1/2 x720K is simply awesome for a 6128. Almost like having a Harddiskdrive...sort of. equivalent of 4 full 3" disks... 8 faces with no face-switch... Must be a sweet working setting (for sounds or Graphics on real hardware) yet do some softwares actually manage this ? Must be great with games like big RPGs... (Pirates, Fire and Flames, Maitre des âmes, Bloodwych...Heroquest...) Make me think CPC lacks in "Megagames" Would it be possible that you take better pictures (this one is quite blurry), and create a page on CPCwiki for this montage please ? |

I will prepare a -how to- but in the meantime you could make one! its an easy mod. Only thing you'll need is a slim floppy with adapter to ide34 |
