I haven't seen any other demos from Mage, so don't ask me if this really is his best demo yet. The text was written at the Freedelire Meeting, and I reviewed the Freedelire Meeting demo in the last issue of OTTO.

The menu lets you select either CRTC 0 & 2, CRTC 1, or a VGA graphic card (which has no effect!). A beautifully drawn "Mage" logo by MaDe sits at the top of the screen, and an equally excellent tune by Joy belts out of the CPC's speakers. Once you've made your choice, you can go on to the demo itself. All is silent at first as one lonely message scrolls along the bottom of the screen, and then...a huge blue set of hypnotic waves suddenly appears out of nowhere, and the air bursts into life with music!

The waves move constantly up and down and it makes your eyes go funny, and eventually it stops and up comes a picture in MODE 0 by MaDe, which is possibly the best picture l've ever seen on the CPC. It shows some sort of demon and a pterodactyl on a mountain-top, spitting fire at each other. You'll have to see it to really appreciate it, though. I guarantee you'll be amazed. This then clears after a while for some more blue vertical bars spinning around, in an X shape. Another amazing effect that isn't easy to explain.

Whilst all this is going on, the scroll is also doing some strange things of its own. It wiggles about a lot and then straightens out, and later on, there's an effect that l've never seen before - the scroll starts to blur and a "shadow" trails along with the text!

This is one demo that has to be seen now. Mage himself reckons this is not his best demo ever, but from what I've seen of this, I reckon Mage must write some pretty damn good demos. I must see more.
